Multiple Choice Questions

In each round, host Ward read a series of three questions, each with six possible answers. When the question was read and the choices were revealed, each player in turn (commuting back & forth between teams) chose which answer was correct. Choosing the correct answer was worth 60 points, minus 10 for every incorrect answer. Some questions contained either audio or visual content.

Team Effort Question

Each round ended with a special question called the "Team Effort Question". Host Ward read the question after which four possible answers (A, B, C, & D) were revealed. Then the players had five seconds to think about, and choose, which answer was correct. This time, points were awarded according to how many players on each team selected the right answer. If only one player on either chose correctly, s/he scored 20 points for the team. If two players on the same team were right, they scored 50 points. And if all three of them chose correctly, they scored 100 points.

A final team effort question was played in the final round after the third question or whenever a times up bell rings, whichever came first. It was worth 100 points for each player who chose right, for a maximum of 300 points.

The team with the most points after three rounds won the game, a couple of nice prizes, and moved on to the bonus round.

Bonus round

In the bonus round, the winning family were asked three more questions with four possible answers on the first question, five on the second, and six on the third. Each question was worth $50 and if the first two questions were answered correctly, the last question was worth a bonus prize, otherwise it was played for an additional $50.

Any family that remained champions for five (later seven) consecutive episodes won a vacation and (later) retired undefeated.
